A “Farmers Market” is a public, recurring assembly of farmers and food businesses selling products that they grow or produce directly to consumers. OFMN is proud to support the efforts of market managers, advisory and governing boards, volunteers and staff by coordinating and producing activities that contribute to professional development. Whether it be a one-on-one conversation, the general coordination of a region, or workshop opportunities, we are proud to support farmers markets by supporting their leaders.

Farmers markets can provide an incredible opportunity to farmers and food producers looking to sell their products directly to consumers. They can also be incredibly challenging.
Farmers markets are unique, as are the farmers, food producers and small businesses that sell at them. They reflect the community they serve, they exist for social, environmental and/or economic purposes, and they reflect the people who manage and vend at them. The needs of a farmers market vendor are far different than that of a wholesale business or a stand-alone retail operation.
OFMN proudly supports direct-to-consumer businesses that call Ohio’s farmers markets their storefront. That said, we’re not experts in farming or canning, bread baking or cut flowers. But we do know the business of selling at a farmers market and can help you navigate issues such as food safety, labeling and finding a new farmers market to name a few.
